Spring pollen is started but we don’t have any full leaves and a few flowers are starting to grow because of the frosty nights! I am not so patiently waiting for the glorious blooms of spring with all of the color and scent! The sun is gently warming my perennial shoots and they are slowly reaching towards the sun but slower than many years. I am itching to get out in the garden.
Junk day was a resounding success. We were able to get everything out that we wanted to this year. The pickers took most of it as we put it out and this morning the rest was hauled away. Another level of Swedish death cleaning is complete. If you remember Death cleaning is going thru all of your stuff over and over so that when you die your family is left with a huge mess to deal with in the throws of grief. I am getting closer to my goal and hoped to have the biggest portion done in 5 years. I think this is the third year. The decluttering and donating is far from over but it’s getting thinner and thinner of the excess items we have in this house. We have a lot of books that we want to take to the library for their sale next. And during the warmer months I want to make several more trips to the donation center.

I bound these two quilts that have been waiting to be bound. The arrows quilt has some age. It is left over blocks from a pattern I wrote for a magazine in 2020.
The black quilt with dragon fly fabric is a quilt from last year. This was a challenge for Christmas that we got a bag of fabric from another member and secretly made a top to give them. They had no idea who was making their quilt. I made one for a member and a other member gave me my fabric back as this beautiful top!

I taught a class on improv at quilt guild and I was afraid no one would come. Having a taco bar for May 5 th and elections also happens during the meeting may have helped attendance however all there made at least one block or placemat! I was thrilled a few tries the freehand curved piecing. I felt really good about the class. So I renewed my membership for another year.

The sun rose with a happy little sparrow at the feeder.
About the time I feel like I don’t have long covid anymore, it reminds me it still do. I haven’t felt great all week and honestly for a month with the last viral infection I had and all the aftermath. I am feeling better but I will be home resting up. To pace myself I will be puttering about with hand work and making color wash blocks for an exchange I am doing. I have 75 more to make by the end of the month. Long Covid is annoying and I am working very hard to continue with my activities as much as I can. I am also seeing a chiropractor who specializes in rehabilitation and that has been a big help.
This is the color wash quilt and tutorial. I am scrap busting! It will be a really fun exercise in color placement.

This is last week’s sourdough bread. My first loaf in many years. I plan to make a loaf of bread today and some cranberry muffins tomorrow. I want to eat healthier and become better friends with my kitchen. I thought baking is a good place to start because I always enjoyed baking. Sourdough is an challenging adventure and I am learning a lot about it, properly feeding the starter and the patience needed for making a bread.
Have a great week!
